Representative Lisa Subeck Co-Authors CLEAR Act to Address PFAS Contamination
CLEAR Act legislation sets standards to protect and preserve Wisconsin waterways

MADISON – This week, Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) joined Democratic colleagues in circulating CLEAR Act legislation for legislative co-sponsorship. The CLEAR Act (LRB-2927) would protect Wisconsin’s water resources from dangerous PFAS chemicals by allowing the Department of Natural Resources to determine stringent PFAS standards. The bill would also create remediation options for local governments and includes measures to hold polluters accountable. Rep. Subeck released the following statement regarding the CLEAR Act introduction.

“We all need access to clean and safe drinking water, and protecting our water sources should be a top priority for our state. PFAS chemicals, which build up in the body over time, threaten the safety of our water supply and the health of our communities.

By establishing standards, providing remediation possibilities, and implementing liability, the CLEAR Act takes a comprehensive approach to tackle PFAS contamination. The legislature should move swiftly to pass the CLEAR Act, ensuring future generations of Wisconsinites have access to clean and safe drinking water.”

Representative Lisa Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as vice-chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
