Representative Lisa Subeck Applauds UW Hospital Agreement with Nurses

MADISON – Today, Representative Lisa Subeck released the following statement in support of a tentative agreement reached between The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Authority (UWHCA) board and UW nurses. The agreement narrowly avoids a 3-day strike demanding an end to unsafe staffing conditions and voluntary recognition of a Nurses’ union.

“This agreement demonstrates the power of collective bargaining, and I am grateful that the hospital has allowed its nurses a voice in their workplace. A union voice gives nurses the ability to best care for their patients and serve our community.

This is a massive victory for workers, for Governor Evers, and for our community. It is because of our nurses that UW Health is an elite healthcare institution, and I am proud to have joined them in their fight for the recognition they so rightly deserve.”

Representative Lisa Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
