Rep. Subeck Stands up for Equity and Inclusion in Wisconsin Schools

MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed Republican sponsored proposals (AB 414 and AB 411) prohibiting anti-racism and anti-sexism teaching and training in our public schools and other local governmental institutions. Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement following today’s vote.

“Our schools should foster environments of equity and inclusion so that all of our children can learn and thrive. This requires having open conversations about racism and sexism and learning about our country’s complete history, even the parts that may be uncomfortable.

The politically motivated and divisive bills passed today by Assembly Republicans are part of an extreme national partisan political agenda to fuel a culture war and motivate the most extreme members of their base. Our children and their schools should not be used as political pawns to further a partisan agenda.”

Rep. Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as vice-chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
