REP. SUBECK PRAISES BIDEN AND EVERS ADMINISTRATION TO PRESERVE FOODSHARE FUNDING

MADISON – Today, the United States Department of Agriculture reached a deal with Governor Tony Evers’s administration that preserves nearly $70 million in FoodShare funds jeopardized by a Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling after a conservative group sued to strike down Wisconsin’s public health emergency order. Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement on the announcement that an agreement had been reached:

“Thank you to President Biden, Governor Evers, and their administrations for their rapid response to ensure that Wisconsin families in need have continued access to critical food resources. In the face of constant politicization of the pandemic by Republican legislators in our state, it is reassuring to know that our Governor and our President are working together with us to put people first. The agreement reached today works to put food directly on the tables of Wisconsinites struggling to make ends meet in the face of the pandemic.”
