Rep. Subeck: Statement on Wisconsin Supreme Court Ruling

MADISON – In response to the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s ruling on Governor Evers’ public health emergency declarations related to COVID-19, Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement.

“I am disappointed by today’s decision by conservatives on our state Supreme Court that strikes down our current public health order and ties the hands of the administration to issue subsequent orders. Today’s ruling ignores changing health conditions and circumstances during a pandemic, and it drastically limits the ability of state health officials to respond and act to protect the health and safety of our communities.

Today’s ruling is particularly discouraging, as it strikes down our statewide mask requirements. As we near the end of the pandemic, now is not the time to let our guard down. If we all get vaccinated, keep wearing masks, and stay vigilant, we can defeat this virus – and get back to family, school, work, and community.”

Representative Lisa Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015, and serves as vice-chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
