Representative Subeck Appointed to Assembly Speaker's Task Force on Foster Care

 August 1, 2017

MADISON – Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) has been appointed to serve on the Assembly Speaker's Task Force on Foster Care.

“Assembly Task Forces have been effective in proposing bi-partisan legislation on a number of important issues facing Wisconsin,” said Rep. Subeck. “I am looking forward to working with fellow legislators to improve Wisconsin’s foster care system.”

The Task Force will study and recommend policy initiatives to address the issues facing children and families in the foster care system. The last reported numbers from the Department of Children and Families showed 7,168 children were in out-of-home care in Wisconsin. The task force held its first meeting at the end of July and will now tour the state hearing from children, parents and caregivers across the state. The task force has a total of 13 members from both political parties and is co-chaired by Representative Patrick Snyder (R-Schofield) and Representative Steve Doyle (D-Onalaska).

“We need to ensure that children ageing out of the foster care system have the resources necessary to be successful without the support of a permanent family,” said Rep. Subeck. “It is my hope this Task Force will recommend policy solutions to address the challenges that children, parents, and caregivers face across Wisconsin.”
