Representative Lisa Subeck Receives Gaylord Nelson Human Services Award

MADISON – Today, Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) received the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association’s (WISCAP) Gaylord Nelson Human Services Award, presented to a Democratic lawmaker for outstanding support of Community Action and low-income families.

“I am honored to earn this recognition from WISCAP, having worked closely with the association to develop and introduce the Wisconsin Opportunities Act,” said Rep. Subeck. “Together, we recognize that ending poverty requires comprehensive and interconnected solutions that address both immediate and long-term challenges our most vulnerable neighbors face.”

WISCAP is a statewide network of sixteen local Community Action Agencies and two single purpose agencies addressing the poverty in Wisconsin’s rural, urban, and suburban communities.

“From her efforts in the Assembly to her engagement in the district, Representative Lisa Subeck animates the same values and work as community action,” said Brad Paul, Executive Director of WISCAP. “Her time-tested leadership on issues of poverty, economic security, and social justice make her the perfect recipient of this year’s Gaylord Nelson Human Services Award.”

Representative Lisa Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
