Representative Lisa Subeck Praises the Biden-Harris Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan
Vice President Kamala Harris Visited Milwaukee Today to Promote the Bipartisan Proposal

MADISON –Today, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Milwaukee to highlight the Biden-Harris Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan. The centerpiece of this legislation is replacing aging lead pipes across the country to ensure every American has access to clean and safe drinking water. Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement.

"American families need to know the water coming into their homes is clean and safe to drink. The Biden-Harris Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan is a welcome proposal to address the aging infrastructure of municipal pipe systems across the country that are still are utilizing lead pipes to provide water to citizens. Replacement of these pipes will undoubtedly increase citizens' health and quality of life in affected areas.

For too long, Milwaukee has struggled with lead mitigation, initially focusing on lead paint removal. Unfortunately, lead pipe replacement has yet to commence, and the Republican majorities in the Assembly and Senate opposed Governor Evers's $40 million investment in lead pipe remediation during the last budget process. This plan is a welcome and urgently needed investment for Wisconsin's largest city. I am thankful for Vice President Harris for highlighting the Biden-Harris Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan and how urgently it is needed in Milwaukee."

Representative Lisa Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as vice-chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
