Representative Lisa Subeck: Anti-Semitism Has No Place Here

Representative Lisa Subeck released the following statement in response to reports that Madison and UW Police are investigating an incident involving a group of students who reported having a rock thrown at them from a building on State Street following a UW-Madison vigil in support of Israel. The students also reported being subjected to harassment and hateful language.

“It is unacceptable that any UW student should face such hate and violence in Madison, and it must be condemned. Now, let us stand together against hate and send a clear message that anti-Semitism has no place on our campus and in our community.

Thank you to the Madison and University of Wisconsin Police Departments for dedicating resources to finding those responsible so that they may be held accountable and to Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin for her swift statement condemning this act of anti-Semitism. These actions are critical to restoring a sense of safety for Jewish students and community members in Madison.”

Rep. Subeck is a board member of the National Association of Jewish Legislators. She serves as the Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus and has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015.
