Rep. Subeck Responds to City of Milwaukee Support for Resolution Protecting Survivors of Domestic Violence

MADISON – Today, Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) joined Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson as he signed Common Council Resolution 231169, directing city staff to help advance a bill in the state legislature that Rep. Subeck introduced earlier this month. The legislation would close a loophole in state law preventing law enforcement from confiscating firearms from people convicted disorderly conduct misdemeanors stemming from domestic violence.

Representative Subeck released the following statement:

“Thank you to the City of Milwaukee for making this bill a priority and standing with survivors of domestic violence. Our common sense bill will close this loophole in state law, keeping guns out of the hands of violent criminals and protecting the lives of victims and law enforcement officers.”

Rep. Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
