Rep. Lisa Subeck Statement on Desperate Republican Power Grab to Retain Control of State Legislature
MADISON – Today, Legislative Republicans passed an amended version of Assembly Bill 415, establishing a state legislative map that carves out protections for several incumbent members with no hearing or opportunity for public comment.
Representative Lisa Subeck released the following statement:
“After gerrymandering themselves into an unbreakable majority, legislative Republicans spent the last decade cementing their power and pushing a far-right agenda that is clearly out of touch with the priorities of everyday Wisconsinites.
Now that they are facing the prospect of running under fair maps, Republican leaders are desperately trying to cling to power any way they can.
With no advance notice, no hearing, and no opportunity for public comment, this bill is nothing short of a desperate power grab designed to protect the extremist Republican majority.”
Rep. Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
