Madison Approved for New Economic Opportunity Zone Tax Program

April 10, 2018

MADISON – Today, State Representative Lisa Subeck (D – Madison) issued the following statement in response to the approval by the U.S. Department of Treasury of designating 10 Economic Opportunity Zones in Madison, including parts of the southwest side in the 78th Assembly District. The program is a federal community development tax incentive program which creates an incentive for businesses and community members to invest in eligible lower income Census Tracts:

“It is exciting to see areas of Madison, including the Southwest side, be given the Economic Opportunity Zone designation. Receiving the designation will encourage and focus private investment, create jobs, and support businesses in high need areas."
