Armstrong Votes for COVID Response Bill
Madison – State Rep. Dave Armstrong (R-Rice Lake) cast his first vote on a legislative bill when he voted on January 7 to approve Assembly Bill 1, which increases state resources for combatting COVID-19, ensures access to COVID testing and vaccines, supporting hospitals and other frontline healthcare providers, and addresses the ongoing unemployment benefit backlog.
“When I ran for office last year, one of the biggest issues constituents brought up was the UI backlog, which continues to be unacceptable,” Representative Armstrong said. “AB 1 will require Governor Evers’ Department of Workforce Development to publish a plan to reduce the number of outstanding unemployment claims to what it was a year ago, before the pandemic hit Wisconsin.
“I am also pleased that AB 1 will protect businesses that act in good faith from frivolous lawsuits, as well as improve accountability and transparency by giving elected officials a meaningful say in how the state and local agencies address healthcare crises going forward,” Representative Armstrong continued. “AB 1 strikes an appropriate balance between flexibility and government overreach.”
AB 1 will now go to the Senate for further consideration.
The 75th Assembly District includes most of Barron County and portions of Washburn, Polk, Burnett, Dunn, and Saint Croix counties.
