State legislators hold listening session for concerned residents

WAUSAU,Wis.(WSAW)-- The states budget was the topic of discussion at a listening session at the Marathon County Library Saturday morning.

Rep. Katrina Shankland was among the four Democratic Legislators who listened to concerns of residents in Central Wisconsin. Shankland said many people are worried about the lack of support for public schools and universities, the environment and the poor investment in ourn infrastructure.

"People just want the government to do the right thing and invest in them and not special interest. We want to make sure that we understand whats going on in peoples lives, what they'd like to see in state government and how we can help them." said Shankland.

Governor Walker is expected to sign the state budget before July 1st.
