Assembly Dems announce “Reach higher for higher education” bills

MADISON, Wis. — Assembly Democrats, joined by higher education leaders, introduced bills to “reach higher for higher education,” during a news conference Wednesday.

The bills will focus on investing in public higher education and making college more affordable.

“They will invest in funding needed for both technical colleges and universities,” Rep. Katrina Shankland said. “They will expand the tuition promise to all UW campuses which will help more students enroll in and finish their degrees in Wisconsin.”

The bills would restore the tuition freeze at the UW System and require all future tuition freezes to be funded.
