Plover, Wis. (WSAW) -- National Vietnam Veteran's Day is honored every year on March, 29.
Saturday marks the 5th year of the VFW Vietnam Veteran's Day celebration in Plover.

VFW State Commander John Schultz, and Congressman Ron Kind, and Representative Katrina Shankland were all in attendance today as special guests.

Fellowship, gratitude, and contributions to the Vietnam War were all recognized as part of the event. "I just truly appreciate our Veterans and I always enjoy seeing them and hearing about issues important to them and their families, said Rep. Shankland."

Congressman Ron Kind said, “it's important. They did not receive the welcome most of our Veterans did from serving our Nation, whether it was during a time of conflict or peace. So, it's a blemish on American History we need to correct now. Events like this are meant to bring our community together, show our appreciation to the Vietnam Vets, show they are not forgotten, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten."

The VFW Post in Plover exceeds over 200 Veterans and holds many special events throughout the year, honoring those who served.
