Property tax payment deadline delayed in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -- The city of Stevens Point has announced that property tax deadlines for April and July have been extended to October 1st.

The approval also required action by the state and Portage County, which happened earlier this month. In a statement, Mayor Mike Wiza thanked State Representative Katrina Shankland, County Executive Chris Holman, County Board Chair Al Haga, and City Council President Meleesa Johnson for their efforts to make the delay happen.

Residents do not need to apply for the extension, as the deadline for all taxable properties in the city will automatically be extended.

Treasurer Corey Ladick says the city has enough cash on hand to continue meeting obligations until October 1st. Wiza says the decision was made by the city council through a unanimous vote this week.
