Plover honors outgoing president, trustee

It was smooth sailing at the April 19 Village Board meeting for Gary Wolf’s first night in the president’s chair.

Wolf bested challenger Ross Ballard, a trustee in Ward 1, by a tally of 1,933 to 1,577 on April 4. Ballard remains in his Trustee seat for the rest of his two-year term.

Wolf takes the place previously held by President Tom Davies. Davis announced last year that he intended to retire and would not seek reelection.

The board room was packed on Wednesday night, with department heads from across the village, and many members of the Plover police and fire departments, as well as prior village leaders, to honor Davies and retired Trustee Orville Damrau, who stepped down earlier this year due to health reasons.

Local businessman Tim Durigan took Damrau’s seat by appointment.

Damrau served the village for over 20 years before retiring in 2023.
