PORTAGE COUNTY – After four decades in the Portage County District Attorney (DA)’s Office, Deb Gilbert, spent her final day at the desk on Nov. 30.

Gilbert began her career with Portage County on Dec. 16, 1974, as a secretary for county clerk, Raymond Disher. On Sept. 26, 1977, she moved over to a legal secretary position with DA Daniel Golden. Since that day she has served with eight DAs, including current DA Louis Molepske.

Just shy of 46 years with the county, an assembly citation of commendation presentation was held outside of the county courthouse on Nov. 30.

“Debra has continuously served as a mentor, sharing her wealth of knowledge for the law with over a dozen legal secretaries and associates who have been hired after her,” the citation read.

The citation added that in 43 years, “Debra directly worked over 13,000 les and helped manage approximately 43,000 referrals, and she has drafted thousands of complaints.”
