Meet Representative Ben DeSmidt

Thank you for visiting my site. As a fourth-generation elected official in the State of Wisconsin, public service has always been a central part of my life. I’m a proud lifelong Wisconsinite with a strong foundation in education, small business ownership, and community involvement.

My time teaching at Carthage College from 2005 to 2020 allowed me to engage with students and shape the future of Wisconsin’s workforce. I now co-own Union Park Tavern in Kenosha with my partner, Angie, where we support local businesses and contribute to the vibrancy of our community.

It's an honor to serve as your Wisconsin State Representative. During the 2025-2026 Legislative Session, I will be serving on the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities, as well as the Assembly Committee on Science, Technology, and AI.
