About
I never set out to run for office—I set out to teach. For over two decades, I've been a public school educator in Racine, where I've had the privilege of guiding students through both challenges and triumphs. But the day I had to explain to a fifth grader why her teachers had to march around the Capitol to defend their profession—why the very people who cared most about her education were being treated like the enemy—something shifted in me. I knew then that if we as educators and advocates, didn't take our fight beyond the classroom, the system would continue to fail the very students it claims to serve.
Fast forward to today, I serve as the president of the Racine Educators United teachers' union and as the elected representative for District 62 in the Wisconsin State Assembly. I ran for office because I believe our schools, our students, and our communities deserve more than the slow erosion of public education funding and the backdoor privatization efforts we continue to see from both state and national legislators. I remain steadfast in my commitment to organizing against there efforts—and defending the public good.
