Welcome to the 61st Assembly District! Home to a portion of southwest Milwaukee County. The 61st is a very unique area and is home to the City of Greenfield, Village of Hales Corners, Village of Greendale, and the City of Milwaukee.

These suburban communities are also one of three Assembly Districts that make up the 21th State Senate district represented by State Senator Van Wanggaard. Because of the 61sts geographical location, it overlaps multiple congressional districts--Wisconsin's 4th Congressional District, represented by Rep. Gwen Moore, Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District, represented by Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, and Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District, represented by Rep. Bryan Steil.

The 61st is home to a vibrant set of municipalities, all of which are heavily residential and serve as part of the backbone of the Milwaukee County economy.

2023 Wisconsin Act 94 was passed and resulted in the state legislative maps being redistricted. As a result, many of the lines have changes and the districts renumbered.

The 84th Assembly District, previously represented by Rep. Donovan during the 2023-2024 session, has ceased to exist in its current form. However, the old 84th Assembly District has been split into two separate districts. The new 61st Assembly District, which Rep. Donovan currently represents for the 2025-2026 session, covers most, but not all, of the old 84th Assembly District. This includes retaining most of the City of Greenfield, all of the Village of Hales Corners, most of the City of Milwaukee, and adding all of the Village of Greendale, and a portion of the City of Franklin. 

The northeastern part of the old 84th Assembly District was removed and reapportioned to the 7th Assembly District. This included the eastern parts of the City of Greenfield in addition to some of the City of Milwaukee.
