Kurtz Appointed Assembly Vice-Chair of Joint Finance Committee

MADISON – Rep. Tony Kurtz (R-Wonewoc) issued the following statement after being appointed the Assembly Vice-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee by Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester):

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Vice-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee. I’ve had the privilege of serving two terms on the committee and have learned a lot over the last four years. Thanks to our hard work, Wisconsin is once again in a strong fiscal position going into the next budget cycle. We’ve made historic investments in local government, transportation infrastructure, and workforce housing. The Legislature passed three variations of tax cuts that were ultimately vetoed by the Governor. I look forward to returning the surplus to the hard-working taxpayers of our great state, while ensuring continued investments in special education, first responders, local roads and rural hospitals. It will be an honor to work alongside Co-Chair Born and the Joint Finance Committee members to deliver the best budget for the people of the State of Wisconsin.”

In November, Rep. Kurtz was re-elected to serve a fourth term in the State Assembly, this will be his third term serving on the Joint Finance Committee.

The Joint Finance Committee is a statutory, 16-member standing committee of the Wisconsin Legislature. The committee's primary responsibility is to serve as the principal legislative committee charged with the review of all state appropriations and revenues.

Please note, when Rep. Kurtz is sworn in for the 2025-2026 Legislative Session, his district number will change from the 50th to the 41st Assembly District.
