Restoring Roe, Transparency in the Legislature, and Poll Worker Training

In this week’s e-update, I joined Governor Evers announcing legislation to restore Roe in Wisconsin. I co-authored legislation to increase transparency in the State Legislature. I went through poll worker training, and Sully went to a great local restaurant.

Restoring Roe
On Tuesday, I was proud to stand with the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, legislative colleagues, and medical professionals to introduce the Restore Roe Act. Women’s healthcare is a right, not a negotiation. It is essential that we seek to protect the rights of women.

Child Care Counts
On Friday, I had the opportunity to visit Tiny Town Daycare & Preschool with Senator Spreitzer. I was impressed with the work Jodi and Kim put in to make their dream become a reality. Jodi and Kim mentioned the importance of the Child Care Counts Program in the success of Tiny Town by keeping tuition costs lower and preventing wage decreases for staff. Please consider signing this petition to show your support for this vital program.

Increased Transparency in the State Legislature
I was proud to introduce legislation to hold the State Legislature to the same record keeping standards as every other part of government. Local elected officials in Wisconsin are held to higher record retention standards than state legislators. From my experience as a member of the Beloit City Council, I know the system is broken. This bill will finally raise the bar for our State Legislature.

Poll Worker Training
I recently went through training to become a poll worker for the April 4th election. I gained valuable insight on how the voting process works. I strongly encourage everyone to work the polls at least once.

Sully Sunday
Finally, for this last week’s Sully Sunday, Sully was asked to visit Taqueria Guzman in Orfordville. Sully said the food smelled delicious! When you have the chance, stop by this great community restaurant, and tell them Sully sent you. If you have a recommendation for where Sully should go next, nominate a location here.
