Sue Conley retired from the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin in 2014 after serving as the executive director for 12 years. Sue’s previous work experience includes several positions at the YWCA Rock County including Executive Director.
Sue has been an active nonprofit board leader since 1984 serving on many local boards including United Way, League of Women Voters, Janesville Performing Arts Center, Leadership Development Academy and many more.
In 2015 and 2019, Sue served as the Interim Executive Director of HealthNet of Rock County and KANDU Industries, respectively, while the organizations completed their search for the next leader. She was elected to the Janesville City Council in 2017 and again in 2019. In 2020 she served as the Executive Director of the University of Wisconsin – Rock County Foundation and led the transition of the organization to merge with University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Foundation.
For the last ten years, Sue has served as a consultant to local nonprofits providing tools and best practices to help nonprofits create good governance structures to better position them to advance their organization’s mission.
Sue was first elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly November 2020 and again in 2023. She currently serves on several Assembly committees: Local Government, Ways & Means (ranking member), Family Law, Joint Committee of Review of Administrative Rules (ranking member) and Sporting Heritage; as well as the Governor’s Council on Domestic Violence, the Special Committee on State-Tribal Relations, and the Speaker’s Task Force on Human Trafficking.
Sue is married to Jim Conley and has three grown children.
