About Representative Mark Born

Representative Mark Born was born and raised in Beaver Dam, WI, where he currently resides with his wife Liberty and their daughter. Mark received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN.

Mark was elected to the State Assembly in 2012. He was appointed to the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC), the state’s budget writing committee, in 2016. Rep. Born has served as Co-Chair of JFC since December 2020. He also currently serves on the Committees on Audit, Employment Relations, and Joint Legislative Council, and as a member of the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority. In previous sessions, he served on the committees on Criminal Justice and Public Safety, Financial Institutions, Insurance, Natural Resources and Sporting Heritage, Tourism and Public Benefit Reform. He was also a member of the State Building Commission for two terms.

Mark previously served on the Beaver Dam Common Council for two terms and the Beaver Dam Fire and Police Commission. He also worked for the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department as a correctional officer and supervisor for nearly 15 years, before becoming a full-time legislator. He is an active member in his community as part of the Dodge County Historical Society, Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Association, Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Beaver Dam, Beaver Dam Elk's Lodge 1540, Republican Party of Dodge County, NRA, and Trinity Church United Methodist in Beaver Dam.

In his free time, Representative Born enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter visiting relatives in Missouri and watching Badger, Packer and Brewer games.
