A FOCUS ON HEALTH, PUBLIC SAFETY, AND ELECTION INTEGRITY
HEALTH
RARE DISEASE ADVISORY COUNCIL
On Tuesday, Rep. Dittrich’s bill forming a Rare Disease Advisory Council was heard in the Assembly Committee on Health. While there are certain interests that are trying to undermine this opportunity for doctors, patients, insurers, advocacy groups, and legislators to come to the table to shape sound public policy, Rep. Dittrich will continue to fight for this approach. The best policy is shaped when all stakeholders and political parties have a seat at the table to make our state a leader on issues.
On Wednesday, Rep. Dittrich’s bill with Sen. Felzkowski regarding providing complementary and alternative health care, was passed in an Executive Committee Hearing of the Assembly Committee on Health. It now moves to the floor of the Assembly for a vote, scheduled January 20th.
MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES
Monoclonal antibodies are once again being made available – At a listening session last week with Sen. Jagler, constituents shared their frustration with the fact that area health care providers are no longer allowing COVID-positive patients to receive monoclonal antibodies. The problem stems from the federal government halting the shipment of this effective treatment to states. This week it was announced that the administration will resume shipments to states, which is good news for the many patients that are still facing the Delta and earlier versions of COVID-19.
This week Tony Evers failed Wisconsinites crying out for public safety once again by denying the formal public request to remove Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm, who let Waukesha parade murderer walk free on only $500 bail, among many other lenient decisions.
Six people, including a child, were murdered and others are still struggling to survive and recover, but that's not a high enough bar for Evers. He is shrugging his shoulders, refusing to remove Chisholm. Such shameful weakness will not be forgotten by constituents who are the loved ones of these victims.
WAUKESHA COUNTY REPUBLICANS DECRY EVERS ACTIONS
The following day, Rep. Dittrich joined her Waukesha County Conservative Legislative colleagues in sending a letter to Tony Evers, decrying his weak response and indefensible treatment of Southeastern Wisconsin constituents in need of a tougher treatment of crime. His dereliction of duty is unconscionable.
WAUKESHA COUNTY DA PURSUES STRONG PROSECUTION
Thankfully, Waukesha County District Attorney Sue Opper is establishing a strong prosecution of the parade murderer, Darrell Brooks, and Court Commissioner Kevin Costello has bound him over for trial on February 11th.
Meanwhile, constituents in EVERY county can become more engaged in their own safety of person and property. Be mindful to prevent your car from by being stolen by not leaving your car warming up, unlocked, with the keys in it.
It is no longer safe to assume that your car will not be stolen. Thanks to our hardworking law enforcement who apprehended these thieves.
ELECTION INTEGRITY
Rep. Dittrich continues to hear many complaints about Wisconsin’s elections ranging from anger over investigations to accusations of not admitting that our 2020 elections had problems. To be clear as she has been from the start...our elections had huge problems in 2020, not the least of which originated with the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Procedures were lax, and guidance did not align with state law. WEC basically gave an outside group, the Center for Tech and Civic Life, unequal access to data and ballots that gave an advantage to one side.
The audit by the Legislative Audit Bureau revealed enough troubling facts for every Wisconsinite to be concerned about the integrity of their vote. Some of the items detailed in this audit require legislation to correct, others are procedural. While it seems that we will get nowhere with legislation while Tony Evers is in office, other action has been taken to assure that these violations of the law are addressed.
WI ELECTIONS COMMISSION ORDERED TO STOP ILLEGAL DIRECTIVES
Rep. Dittrich applauds Rep. Adam Neylon and Sen. Steve Nass, co-chairs of the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules (JCRAR) who have now ordered WEC to stop issuing election directives that do not comply with state law. Instead, if WEC wishes to change procedures, they are to be promulgating rules that are voted on by JCRAR.
Rep. Dittrich applauds Judge Bohren’s ruling that remote ballot dropboxes, left unattended and unsecure, are not compliant with state law and cannot be used in the Spring 2022 elections. While the decision is certain to be appealed, this is a positive ruling on election integrity for now.
