Proud to Serve for Wisconsin’s 2023-2024 Session
I want to begin by thanking the people of the 28th Assembly District for re-electing me to serve you for another two years. Being your state representative is the best job I’ve ever had, and it is still humbling that my fellow citizens have trusted me to be their voice in the Wisconsin State Assembly.
There is no denying that many of the conservative policies my constituents would like to see implemented now face a much more difficult road to becoming law. However, the Republican majority in the Legislature will continue to advance the priorities of the people we were elected to represent, just as we have over the past four years. For example, in the last session, Governor Evers proposed a state budget that would have increased taxes by over $1 billion. The Legislature and I rejected that proposal and passed a budget that cut taxes for the middle class by over $3 billion.
There is no doubt that the political atmosphere in Madison will continue to be challenging. While there will be areas where I don’t see eye to eye with Governor Evers, I still believe there is some common ground where we can work together. I am also proud that many of the bills I introduced this past session received the support of Republicans and Democrats and were signed into law.
For 2023, the Wisconsin Legislature and I will craft the Wisconsin State Budget for the next two years. Wisconsin has an extra $6 billion in the bank, and we must determine how to utilize most of those funds. Wisconsin should use the surplus for one-time expenses such as infrastructure, public safety, water sanitation, and human capital.
I’ve been honored to be your Tourism Chair for the 2023-2024 Assembly Session. The committee members and I oversee the incoming bills affecting Wisconsin by ensuring a fair and informative public hearing process. These hearings are an essential part of the process as they allow us to inform the public on the state of affairs and gather community feedback on policy proposals. The plan is to market our great state to inside and outside residences.
I’ve always said that some of the best legislation comes from constituents like you. If you have an idea for this session, please get in touch with my staff or me by mail, phone call, or email.
