Legislative Advancement: Representative Gae Magnafici Supports Historic Shared Revenue Bill
Madison – Representative Gae Magnafici proudly cast her vote in favor of groundbreaking legislation to assist local governments and empower communities.
"After extensive discussions with constituents and productive meetings with local officials, we have reached a consensus and are thrilled to be making unprecedented investments in local government," stated Rep. Magnafici. "This legislation prioritizes innovation and public safety, channeling funds towards our rural communities, suburbs, and cities to effectively address the financial challenges that lie ahead in the next decade."
The legislation in question represents the most significant increase in shared revenue in the history of our state, guaranteeing a minimum 15% boost in shared revenue for every local government.
The newly allocated funds will be dedicated to vital reforms that enhance the operational efficiency of local government. Encouraging collaboration and the pursuit of streamlined services, the state will offer financial incentives to local governments that can demonstrate improved efficiencies, cost savings, and consolidation. Furthermore, a significant portion of the funds will support essential services such as law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, public works, and transportation.
"Republicans have always placed public safety at the forefront of their priorities," emphasized Rep. Magnafici. "This momentous step ensures the preservation and adequate resourcing of law enforcement services, preventing any potential setbacks or cuts."
The bill has now been passed to the state Senate for further deliberation and consideration.
