Cup of Joe Volume 1
Welcome to our first Cup of Joe! This bi-weekly newsletter is intended to keep you up to date with what is happening in our office, and hopefully spark your interest to reach out if we can ever be of service.
It has been an exciting week down in Madison! I had the honor of speaking on a panel of other education-focused legislators to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards about the top issues facing the education field in Wisconsin. Senator Larson, Senator Quinn, and Representative Kitchens all brought great perspectives to the panel. I was very excited to hear that we do agree on a lot of the issues facing our schools right now, and even have some pretty similar thoughts on how to get started solving them!
Governor Evers released his 2025-2027 Capital Budget this week, which showed significant investment to build and improve infrastructure throughout the state. It includes $1.4 million for renovations to the nature center in Kohler Andrae State Park. I am very excited to see how this investment in our area will help the park better serve the public and facilitate the huge increase in visitors the park has seen in the past few years.
I sponsored a resolution to officially recognize March 17 as Saint Patrick’s Day. As someone who is proud of my Irish heritage, I was happy to see it pass on Thursday. The Irish caucus even got a picture!
I have a few budget listening sessions coming up! Pop on down to the Mead Public Library’s Rocca Meeting Room on March 26th from 6-7:30 or March 29th from 3-4:30 to hear about how the state budget process is going and give your input! I would also love to hear your comments and suggestions on how I can continue to serve you. Come see me!
That’s all for now! Please reach out to my office if we can ever help you in any way. I will be in touch again soon.
Yours in service,
Joe Sheehan
