Rep. Neylon Votes to Uphold Immigration Laws
Pewaukee – Today, the Wisconsin Assembly passed Assembly Bill (AB) 24, which would create a statutory requirement for sheriffs to attempt to verify citizenship status when a suspect is booked into their jail for a felony. If they are unable to verify citizenship, they must notify US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and if a federal detainer is issued, they must comply.
In response to voting in favor of AB 24, Rep. Adam Neylon issued the following statement:
"This common-senses legislation ensures that violent criminals who are here illegally can’t find refuge in our communities simply because some local officials refuse to enforce the law.”
