Forward Fridays
Hello!
Welcome to my latest e-update! Here are highlights from the past week as your State Representative.
As always, feel free to reach out to my office with any questions or concerns you have.
There is still time to contact me with your healthcare stories, education funding stories, transportation concerns, and all other opinions about the budget. The Joint Finance Committee has thrown out The People's Budget and introduced their own budget. The Republican budget will be on the floor Tuesday, June 25th, and I will fight until the end for the 55,000 people I represent.
Feel free to reply directly to this email. I will take every contact I have received related to the budget onto the floor with me. Your voice will be heard that day.
Forward together!
Budget Update
The Republican version of the budget has passed through the Joint Finance Committee and will make its way to the floor of the State Assembly this coming Tuesday.
This budget cuts out and down major initiatives related to healthcare, education, and transportation. The people deserve more -- they asked for more. Just yesterday, the Department of Revenue released a memo detailing that Wisconsin taxpayers will be paying $1 BILLION A YEAR to support Medicaid expansion in OTHER STATES!
As we go into next week, know that I will fight for these initiatives as your State Rep. Whether it's the school breakfast program, Healthy Women & Healthy Babies, or lead lateral replacement, our children and our families deserve to be safe, healthy, and ready for their futures.
Session
This week, the State Assembly voted on a multitude of bills and joint resolutions in session on Tuesday and Thursday (photo above shows just Tuesdays bills!).
Some that passed included Pride Month (AJR 47), changing step therapy (AB 24), ending the Miller Park tax (AB 73), and my very own bipartisan, bicameral resolution honoring June as Fatherhood Month (AJR 65).
Scroll to the end for a full list of bills and resolutions that passed this week.
Adoption Task Force
The Speaker's Task Force on Adoption had its first public informational hearing on Wednesday. Invited speakers included Department of Children and Families, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Lutheran Social Services, Bethany Christian Services of Wisconsin, and Coalition for Children, Youth and Families.
I look forward to the positive outcomes we can achieve for our state from this Task Force!
Honoring Justice Shirley Abrahamson
State Supreme Court Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson is retiring - she wrote her first opinion the year I was born and will retire this summer. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg appeared by video on Tuesday to wish her friend, “Bravo”.
Thank you, Justice Shirley Abrahamson, for your commitment to an independent judiciary, and your 43 years of service on the Wisconsin Supreme Court!
Happy Juneteenth!
In the words of my colleague State Representative David Crowley of Milwaukee: “On Juneteenth we celebrate not only the end of slavery but the sacrifices of those who have fought for equality and African American freedom & achievement. We owe it to those who came before us, to continue the fight against injustice & strive for racial equality.”

Looking Forward
We will be hosting more in-district office hours this month, and are in search of a location! Contact my office with suggestions for a local small business (cafe, restaurant, etc.) where we could meet with constituents in the 14th district.
Feel free to email or call my office with any questions or concerns, or meet with me at one of my in-district office hours or listening sessions.
Forward together,
Rep. Robyn Vining
