What's been going on in the Capitol
Take a look at some of my work
Introduced Legislation
Healthcare
Restore Roe
We must live and legislate with empathy and compassion. I joined Gov. Evers and my Democratic colleagues in introducing the Restore Roe Act to repeal Wisconsin's archaic 1849 criminal abortion ban.
Investing in Mental Healthcare
Every child in Wisconsin deserves access to the quality mental healthcare that they need. I re-introduced the Mental Healthcare is Healthcare bill package which funds students mental health services for K-12 and UW students.
Expanding access & affordability of prescription drugs
I re-introduced our Epi Access bills to ensure that all those who need epinephrine can afford and access this medication whenever necessary, at the pharmacy or in an ambulance.
Access to menstrual products
I re-introduced a bill to provide free menstrual products in all Wisconsin schools, and co-authored a new bill to provide free menstrual products to those in Wisconsin's state prisons and jails.
Pregnancy Protection Act
I re-introduced the Pregnancy Protection Act to require insurance coverage for maternity and newborn care. I will continue to fight to support expecting mothers and parents across our state.
Children & Families
Building Wisconsin Families
For too many families, the financial burden is the greatest challenge they must overcome to fulfill their dreams of parenthood. I re-introduced the Wisconsin Building Families Act to expand access and remove economic barriers to fertility treatment.
Making Wisconsin more accessible
I believe that Wisconsin should be safer and more accessible for everyBODY! I re-introduced the Universal Changing Stations bill to promote more adult-sized changing stations in public spaces.
Child care Counts
I am a vocal advocate in the Capitol for affordable, high quality child care, and I agree that inaction is not an option.
LGBTQ+ Rights
It's been a difficult couple of years with the LGBTQ+ community being stuck in the center of Republican-driven culture wars. I stand with the LGBTQ+ community.
Marriage Equality
I co-sponsored the Marriage Protection Act, two bills that update the Wisconsin statutes to reflect marriage equality.
Education
Fund our schools!
Every child in Wisconsin has a constitutional right to an adequately funded education. My constituents shouldn't have to raise their own taxes or face the closing of schools! Republicans in the legislature have failed to fund the schools for over a decade, and now is the times to restore school funding.
Small Business
Go Big for Small Business
I re-introduced my bill to create an online portal for Wisconsinites to help start, maintain, and grow their small business. This portal is a "one-stop shop" for current and aspiring small business owners, and I'm happy to report that it received a public hearing!
Good Government
Fair maps
Voters should choose their politicians—politicians should not choose their voters. I co-authored the Fair Maps bill to create a nonpartisan commission to redraw our state's maps.
Climate Action
Democratic Legislators introduced the Forward on Climate package, 20 bills to address climate change in Wisconsin. I authored the Complete Streets bill to require pedestrian and bike paths for all state and federally funded highway construction projects.
Before you go
Want to keep up with news in the district?
There are plenty of opportunities to engage with the legislature, but one of the best ways to stay up to date is through our weekly e-update.
Starting on June 1st, state legislators are prohibited from sending 50 or more pieces of identical materials from our office, including the e-update. Sometimes referred to as the Rule of 49, this means we can write the e-update and post it to our website, but we cannot email it directly to your inbox. You can find our e-updates here.
