Forward Fridays
Hello!
Welcome to my latest e-update! Here are highlights from the past week as your state Representative.
As always, feel free to reach out to my office with any questions or concerns you have.
Forward together!
School Visits
Last week, Milwaukee area legislators met with Superintendent Kevin Posley of Milwaukee Public Schools to discuss MPS's priorities for success. Dr. Posley presented meaningful data and information about how the state budget impacts MPS.
This week, I got to check out the Longfellow Middle School STEM Fair and a Wauwatosa East theater presentation. I'm extremely impressed by the hard work and talent of our students.
McKinley Elementary School (Wauwatosa)
I was excited to greet both McKinley and Washington Elementary School at the Capitol this week! Senator Kooyenga and I talked with the students about lemonade stands (and the important legislation related to them), how many light bulbs are in the Capitol, and who Sen. Kooyenga's and my bosses are. Thanks for visiting!
Washington Elementary School (Wauwatosa)
Next week, I look forward to visiting Fairview South in the Elmbrook School District, and receiving visits from other schools at the Capitol.
Adoption Task Force
This week, I was appointed to the Assembly Task Force on Adoption, a bipartisan group of 10 Republicans and 6 Democrats. This committee will focus on addressing the barriers facing biological and adoptive parents in the adoption process. I am honored by my appointment to this task force, and am committed to making this process better for children and families across our state.

Budget Update
University of Wisconsin System: Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee voted to extend the tuition freeze without funding it, and fund UW system programs at nearly $70 million less than the proposed budget. "I feel like I've been kicked in the shins," UW System President Ray Cross said after the vote.
Department of Natural Resources: Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee also slashed many of the budget's DNR proposals, including the creation of the Natural Resources Science Bureau. They also decreased the proposed funding for the Department of National Resources by $28 million, which will diminish the impact of proposed clean water initiatives.
Happy Birthday, Wisconsin!
On May 29th, the state of Wisconsin celebrated its 171st birthday. I'm proud to call this state home!
DNR: Free Fun Weekend
