Forward Fridays

Hello!

Welcome to my latest e-update! Here are highlights from the past week as your state representative.

As always, feel free to reach out to my office with any questions or concerns you have.

Forward together!

Milwaukee Budget Listening Session

This is the People’s Budget -- we are listening to the people. Over and over again we have heard that the people want Medicaid expansion, greater investment in our public schools, reliable transportation, and clean water. Thank you to all who came to the budget listening session in Milwaukee last Thursday to share stories and what this budget means to you.

The Governor's First Bill Signing

Governor Evers signed the first bill into law this session on Tuesday. This bill eliminates certain offensive language from administrative rules, which shows that words matter! I am proud to have supported and voted for this bill in the Assembly, and I hope we can keep moving forward in our state to continue this kind of positive change.

Doctor Day

On Wednesday, hundreds of physicians and medical students came to the Capital to discuss some of the issues that matter to them as healthcare providers. Some of my constituents came into my office to talk about Medicaid reimbursement rates and vaccinations. Thank you to all who came to advocate!

 Budget Press Conference
MKE Press Conference Medicaid 2.jpg

The co-chairs of the Joint Finance Committee sent out a notice late Wednesday afternoon detailing the many provisions they will eliminate from the People's Budget, including Medicaid expansion. According to the most recent Marquette University Law School poll, 70% of Wisconsinites are in favor of the expansion. Additionally, overwhelming support for expansion was given at each of the JFC public hearings and the Governor's budget listening sessions across the state.

Here is the memo detailing what is being removed from the budget.

Here is a news article describing what is removed as well.

The first executive session of the Joint Finance Committee is on Thursday, May 9th at 11 am.

Medicaid Expansion

So how does Medicaid expansion impact the 14th District?

The state's Department of Health Services provided informational sheets detailing how Medicaid expansion will help each and every county in Wisconsin.

Office Hours Suggestions.png

We will be hosting more in-district office hours this month, and are in search of a location! Contact my office with suggestions for a local small business (cafe, restaurant, etc.) where we could meet with constituents in the 14th district.

Feel free to email or call my office with any questions or concerns, or meet with me at one of my in-district office hours or listening sessions.

Forward together,

Rep. Robyn Vining
