Inflation Reduction Act
This monumental piece of legislation paves the way to a better future for communities across the nation and our state. This act focuses on lowering prescription drug costs, healthcare costs, and energy costs while simultaneously fighting climate change.

I have heard from constituents across our community about the anxiety they feel about the impacts of climate change, and the importance of protecting the world for themselves and future generations. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the ways our businesses and manufacturers function. This act uplifts efforts to make our nation and state more sustainable while prioritizing working families and workers.

Check out our breakdown below to see how this landmark federal legislation impacts our state and dist
rict!
Among adults 65+, Black Medicare beneficiaries were roughly 1.5 times as likely as White beneficiaries to have trouble affording medications, and about 2 times as likely to not fill needed prescriptions due to cost. Allowing medicare to negotiate prices will further lower drug costs for seniors– keeping medications attainable for all Wisconsinites.
Through the American Rescue Plan (signed in March, 2021) more than three quarters of uninsured Black Americans had access to a plan with a monthly premium of $50 or less and about two thirds could find a plan for $0-premium. The Inflation Reduction Act builds on these improvements to ensure that more Americans have access to more affordable healthcare coverage.
Wisconsin is home to 461,525 small businesses. Small businesses represent 99.4% of all businesses in the state–we are a small business state! These tax credits make sustainability more achievable for small businesses across Wisconsin.

This investment will increase U.S. manufacturing of clean energy and transportation technologies and position America to lead the growing global market for clean steel, aluminum, cement, and more.
