Representative Goeben's Response to Governor's State of the State Address

Madison… Representative Joy Goeben (R-Hobart) issued the following statement about the governor’s annual State of the State address after a joint session of the Wisconsin State Legislature on Tuesday night.

“Tonight Governor Evers presented a liberal wish list that does not reflect the priorities of the people of Wisconsin or District 5.

“Wisconsin is in a strong fiscal position because of the sensible Republican budgeting decisions made over the last four years,” she said. “It isn’t fiscally responsible to use one-time funds to create programs that will require on-going funding.

“Wisconsin has made progress that we can be proud of. The state of our state is improving, but our work is far from over. The Republican Caucus is focused on ensuring our students are receiving a quality education and addressing the learning loss from the last few years, making sure no one is sitting on the sidelines so we have enough workers to be able to fill the existing jobs that we have, and finding ways to make living here less expensive while maintaining our wonderful quality of life.

“My republican colleagues and I will work hard to continue to address the issues that face our state and make good fiscal decisions for Wisconsin. I understand the importance of, and I am willing to have honest discussions with my democratic collegues and work with them where possible to find common ground to make Wisconsin an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
