“The weaponization of our judicial system in ultra-liberal cities around the country makes this 
legislation necessary. Today’s decision by a Dane County judge to strike down Act 10 is just the latest 
example of the partisan decisions adjudicated in Dane County. By including a venue re-assignment 
option for either side of a court case that involves partisan parties, we will take a big step forward in re-establishing the public’s faith and confidence in the judicial process."

“When I first learned of Wisconsin’s backlog of untested kits years ago, I knew action needed to
be taken to test these kits and avoid a similar backlog in the future. Since then, I’ve authored
multiple state laws establishing timelines for processing kits and standards for the storage of kits.
These laws have provided justice and resulted in greater community safety. I am encouraged by
the progress we’ve made, but there is still much to do to bring justice for each and every victim,”
said Rep. Steffen.

“Tax-Free Retirement is something that Wisconsinites across the state want, which is why I am proud to be
re-introducing this proposal. Historic inflation has been particularly hard on our fixed-income retirees and
we should be focused on finding ways to make Wisconsin an affordable place to retire,” said Rep. Steffen.

“Not only does our current law fail to recognize the real-world circumstances that may impact a
candidate’s decision to continue through Election Day, it also creates unnecessary confusion for
voters. We need a clear pathway for candidates to prevent their name from appearing on the
ballot,” said Rep. Steffen.

“Only in government would you witness a 6,000 person staffing increase in an organization with
no new customers. If the UW System wants the Legislature and taxpayers to take their massive
$855 million budget increase seriously, they’ll need to provide much more than flowery talking
points,” said Rep. Steffen.

“Our Surgeon General is again spotlighting the damaging effects of unfettered social media use on our kids—this time calling for a warning label. Users, especially kids and parents, should absolutely be warned about the harms associated with unrestricted social media use. But beyond that, we need to establish some basic guardrails because right now, our kids and parents are no match for the addictive, relentless social media environment that exists today,” said Rep. Steffen.

“For nearly six years, Governor Evers has ignored the experts, the staff, and the taxpayers by not
decommissioning these two crumbling, 19th century buildings. It is well past the time for the Governor
to put his politics aside and do the right thing: close GBCI and WCI..."

In a stunning letter to the Village of Allouez, Governor Tony Evers formally rejected
multiple state-funded structural engineering reports and community demands to decommission
Wisconsin’s 126-year old maximum security prison.
