Statement on debt payment

“Wisconsin has a debt payment due on May 1st 2011. This is a bill we have that is due. By not paying that bill and restructuring our current loan we are able to miss that payment and push that debt into the next biennium. Pushing off that $165 million payment costs taxpayers an extra $29,570,000 in the next two years (LFB 2/22/2011). This method has been used in the past as Governor Walker has stated to “kick the can” further out. If Governor Walker is determined to miss a payment, he can miss a payment next month as easily as this month.”
