Dose of Reality: Drug Take Back Day

How to participate

It's easy to participate in Drug Take Back Day. Just stop by a collection site and drop your items into a bin. That's it. No questions are asked. You can be in and out of a collection site in minutes.

What to bring

Prescription and over-the-counter medications may be disposed of at Drug Take Back Day collection sites, including:

  • Capsules
  • Creams
  • Inhalers
  • Non-aerosol sprays
  • Ointments
  • Patches
  • Pills
  • Vials

Liquids must be in their original container.

Pet medications are accepted.

Vape pens are accepted with the batteries removed. Other e-cigarette devices are accepted with the batteries removed. These batteries are highly flammable. That's why it is important that the batteries are removed before the pen or device is placed in a collection bin.

The following items are not accepted:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Anything containing blood or a bodily fluid
  • Household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas)
  • Illegal drugs
  • Iodine containing medications
  • Mercury thermometers
  • Personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens, etc.)
  • Sharps/syringes
  • Vape pens/e-cigarette devices with a built-in battery that cannot be removed

Rep. Melotik Honors Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Deputy Christian Almonte as a Hometown Hero

On Tuesday, November 14th, at the State Assembly floor session, State Representative Paul Melotik (R-Grafton) honored Christian Almonte, a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Deputy and a resident of the 24th Assembly District as a hometown hero.

On January 26, 2022 Deputy Christian Almonte was shot in the line of duty while searching for a suspect from a traffic stop in the City of Milwaukee. Deputy Almonte was rushed to the hospital and was treated for multiple gunshot wounds. Miraculously, Christian was discharged and walked out of the hospital the very next day. Christian was met by a crowd of Sheriff’s Office officials, local police department officials, fellow officers and the general public to show support.

Rep. Melotik said “Deputy Almonte’s immediate and unselfish actions undoubtedly saved lives and prevented severe injuries from occurring to the public. Deputy Almonte’s quick response and selflessness, at a critical moment reflected the high standards of service that law enforcement officers aspire to uphold. Deputy Almonte displays great loyalty, commitment and professionalism in the performance of his duties and for this, I am honored to recognize Deputy Christian Almonte as our Hometown Hero”
