HEROES Act Letter - Education & Local Gov't Support
On Tuesday, my Democratic colleagues in the legislature and I sent another letter to Senator Ron Johnson and Senator Tammy Baldwin urging their support for additional federal resources for our state and local governments through the HEROES Act that was passed by U.S. House of Representatives in May.
If passed by the Senate, the HEROES Act would bring nearly $8.5 billion in assistance to Wisconsin to deal with the economic fallout that our state, local, and tribal governments continue to encounter due to the pandemic.
A major beneficiary of this legislation would be Wisconsin's children. By investing in Wisconsin through the HEROES Act, Congress has the ability to disrupt an alarming trajectory being faced by our school districts.
