Oliver G. Munson

Oliver G. Munson of Viroqua, was born March 2, 1856, in Howard county, IA.; was educated in the common and high schools of Iowa and Minnesota; came to Wisconsin in 1876; resided in Richland Center ten years and in Viroqua twenty-one years; was an editor and publisher, having published the Richland Republican ten years and the Vernon County Censor twenty-nine years; has been city clerk of Richland Center, supervisor from city of Viroqua, president of the Vernon County Agricultural society; bookkeeper in the state senate several terms and assistant chief clerk of the assembly two terms. He was elected to the senate in 1896, re-elected in 1900 and 1904, serving twelve years total. Was appointed private secretary to Gov. Jas. O. Davison, Jan. 1, 1906, and served in that capacity for five years, or until the close of his administration. Mr. Munson was married in 1881, at Richland Center, to Josephine C. Downs. They had three daughters.
