Senate Democrats are working for Wisconsin and believe that every individual should have the freedom, opportunity, and economic security to thrive. We must ensure that our economy is built for everyday Wisconsinites, from first-generation college students, apprentices, and single parents to newlyweds and retired couples. Senate Democrats believe that our local communities should be safe and provided with the resources necessary to support their residents, whether in the classroom, on freshly plowed streets, or in their EMS response. We must also ensure that state government works for all of our neighbors and represents their will, rather than special interest groups or corporate billionaires. We remain committed to ensuring that every person has the opportunity to be safe and prosperous.
Supporting Workers
Wisconsin Senate Democrats strive to help working Wisconsinites by investing in affordable child care, supporting paid family and medical leave, increasing minimum wage, and repealing harmful anti-labor and anti-worker policies.
Reproductive Freedom
Wisconsinites should be able to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions without interference from politicians. Wisconsinites must have the fundamental right to safe, accessible, and legal abortions.
Strengthening Democracy
As Senate Democrats, we are committed to ensuring our government represents the will of the people, where every eligible voter can confidently cast their ballot conveniently and elected officials are held accountable to the citizens that elect them.
Healthcare Accessibility
To strengthen communities and expand opportunities, we must increase access to quality and affordable health care. Democrats are fighting to expand coverage, protect community health clinics, and lower prescription costs for seniors.
LGBTQ+ Rights
State legislatures should be working to support – not make things worse for – members of the LGBTQ+ community. Every person in our state deserves to pursue their dreams, be happy and safe regardless of how they identify and who they love.
Public Education
We must prioritize public education at every level to best prepare our kids for the future from early childhood to the technical college and university level. The future of Wisconsin rests in our ability to fully invest in our public K-12 education system.
Criminal Justice Reform
Reforming Wisconsin's juvenile and adult correctional systems, while also addressing racial inequities and expanding alternative treatment options in policing remains a top priority for Senate Democrats.
Cannabis Legalization
The most dangerous thing about cannabis is that it remains illegal. While our neighboring states are taking action to fully legalize cannabis for responsible adult usage, Wisconsin continues to be an island of prohibition with its antiquated policies.
Protecting Our Environment
We must continue to address water quality issues throughout Wisconsin and invest in our State's environment for future generations to come. All Wisconsinites have the right to clean air, safe drinking water, and access to natural spaces.
