JFC Democrats Highlight Impact of Special Education Cuts to Budget

MADISON, WI - On the first day of voting in the Joint Finance Committee (JFC), our Republican colleagues made it a priority to revive one of their most ineffective and unfair tax breaks.  By choosing to protect the fiscally irresponsible manufacturing credit at all costs, JFC Republicans blew a $500 million hole in the People’s Budget proposed by Governor Evers.

Then they forced over 100,000 students, and taxpayers in over 400 school districts across the state, to pay for it by cutting over $500 million from the People’s Budget plan for Special Education reimbursement.

How did that decision impact your schools?  The attached memo from the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau shows the impact of this 84% cut to Gov. Evers’ proposal district by district.
