Democrats Support Responsible Tax Relief for Wisconsin Families
MADISON, WI – Senate Democratic Leader Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse) and Assembly Democratic Leader Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) released the following statements supporting Governor Evers middle-class tax cut for Wisconsin families and seniors.
“Voters elected Gov. Evers because they want fiscally responsible policies that put families first,” said Senator Shilling. “Rather than more unsustainable tax breaks for the wealthy and large corporations, Gov. Evers and Legislative Democrats have made it clear we are going to close corporate tax loopholes, restore tax fairness and promote economic opportunities for working families.”
“We can have a tax cut for working families and still make the needed investments in K-12 education, transportation infrastructure, and affordable health care,” said Rep. Hintz. “Democrats support tax policy that is fair, responsible, and funded. Governor Evers plan checks all these boxes. Republicans are relying on a one-time fund balance to pay for a tax cut that will cost $338 million per year, resulting in cuts to critical state programs in future budgets. That is not a sustainable or responsible policy moving forward.”
