A written transcript of the address is below:
"This is State Senator Janis Ringhand. On behalf of all Wisconsin Democrats, I would like to thank and honor the men and women in uniform who protect our freedoms. Here in Wisconsin, we are dedicated to honoring our commitment to veterans and ensuring they receive the care and respect they’ve earned.
“That’s why Democrats are pushing for immediate action to improve conditions at the King Veterans Home. Recent investigative reports have exposed serious examples of neglect and mismanagement.
“From tainted drinking water and outdated medical equipment to infection outbreaks and injuries, our veterans and their families deserve better than the care they’ve been getting.
“While Gov. Walker wants to raid $18 million from our veteran nursing home, including King, Democrats believe those dollars should go toward their intended purpose. We want to improve veteran care, and make sure that military families, who have already sacrificed so much, aren’t subjected to substandard care.
“Help us keep Wisconsin’s commitment to men and women in uniform by urging immediate action to fix the problems at King Veterans Home. Thank you!”
