A written transcript of the address is below:

"What a year it’s been!

"I’m Senator Jennifer Shilling, and when I look back at the political battles that have been waged in 2015, I’m reminded that our state does better when we all work together. With layoffs at a five-year high, a shrinking middle class and family wages that continue to decline, we need to do more to help hardworking Wisconsinites.

"Rather than getting distracted by misguided efforts to consolidate political power and pit individuals against each other, I’m hopeful that 2016 will be a year of growth, innovation and opportunity for Wisconsin families.

"In fact, Democrats have already introduced several new ideas to achieve these goals and grow the middle class. As part of our Badger Blueprint, we want to tackle the tough issues – like Wisconsin’s growing student loan debt crisis, retirement insecurity and the rising cost of childcare.

"After years of missed opportunities, families in Wisconsin want to see solutions. With 2015 behind us, I hope that we can put aside political differences, work together and focus on expanding economic opportunities for hardworking families in 2016."
