Statement on Extraordinary Session
MADISON - In order to dismantle the Government Accountability Board and restrict disclosure of special interest campaign influence, Republican leaders are preparing to bypass the normal process and call the Legislature into extraordinary session. In response, Senate Democratic Leader Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse) released the following statement:
"The only thing that stinks worse than these bills to expand political corruption is the process Republicans are using to prevent public input. Like many Wisconsin residents, I am deeply disappointed that legislative Republicans continue to undermine government accountability rather than fixing the student loan debt crisis, making child care more affordable or strengthening retirement security."
