Senator Carpenter Welcomes News of Pope Francis Visit to United States
​Announces Senate Resolution honoring Pope Francis

 

Madison – Today State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) issued the following statement in response to the news that Pope Francis will be visiting The United States in September of 2015 and addressing a joint session of the United States Congress.

The announcement of the scheduled visit of Pope Francis to the United States of America next year is cause for joy.  Since being elected pope, Francis has continually brought to the forefront issues that are affecting the poor and disenfranchised. Pope Francis has also set a charitable tone and inclusive example that peoples of all faiths can embrace. 

 

Senator Carpenter has asked his fellow legislators to sign on to a resolution to honor Pope Francis, and thank him for his upcoming visit.
