Senator Janis Ringhand Statement on Keeping the Bucks in Wisconsin
“The statewide economic impact of the Milwaukee Bucks, the support from labor groups and the outpouring of support for the arena plan from my constituents contributed to my vote to keep the Milwaukee Bucks in Wisconsin.
Make no mistake, the Bucks would leave Wisconsin without a deal to build a new arena.
I’ve said all along that when it came to the arena, I would listen to my constituents. Over 80% of the calls, letters and emails I have received have been in support of keeping the Bucks in Wisconsin.
The legislation we voted on today is a far better deal than what was proposed by Governor Walker.
I do find it disappointing that Governor Walker found it more important to be campaigning out of state than participate in the final negotiations to keep professional basketball in Wisconsin.”
